The membership drive for Society of Nigerian Broadcasters started today in Channels TV, Global Headquarters, Lagos, Nigeria.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of BON Chairman Mr. John Ugbe and the Chairman, Channels TV and former Chairman of BON, Dr John Momoh as well as some SNB committee members.
Dr.Momoh in well articulated Keynote address described the resuscitation of SNB and inauguration at the station level as a welcome idea and a giant step that will lead to a sustainable Society .
He expressed his joy that the resuscitation started in Channels TV. He pledge the total support of Channels TV to see to the progress of the SNB and therefore called on prospective members to obtain form and join immediately. He eulogise Ambassador, Yemi Farounbi, Elder Diran Orekunrin and others that registered the Society in 1994.
In his inaugural speech, BON Chairman and CEO of Multichoice Nigeria Limited Mr John Ugbe said he was happy that the SNB has finally taken off on a good note.
He described the SNB as a professional body that will have tremendous positive impact on the industry.
He later presented SNB form to the Chairman of Channels TV, Dr John Momoh.
Prospective members from Channels TV were given the opportunity to ask questions and after an interactive session 20 eligible staff obtained application form.
Membership drive moves to NTA, FRCN, VON and Daar Communications next week in Abuja.
Plan is on to take the membership drive to the six (6) geopolitical zones and all stations across the country.
